“Graceful Thunder” is one of small sampling of work I’ve done focused on animals other than birds. I love animals in general, but I’ve always been most attracted to those that most readily symbolize freedom; in either their form or their demeanor. Horses easily qualify. Yet, I confess that I adore horses from a distance. I rarely ride and have never truly bonded with a horse. I have, however, seen first hand the power of such a bond and the impact it can have on those that embrace it as part of their lives. “Graceful Thunder” was made as a gift for one such person, and is now one I offer to any that share her passion.
“Graceful Thunder” shares complimentary colors with a wide array of Olga’s other work, but is a bit more difficult to match thematically with other pieces. Though it’s obviously an ideal addition to the walls of any equestrian enthusiast, it also has great appeal to many teenage girls who value greatly the freedom such an image aspires to.
The original piece was done using an acrylic ink paint on watercolor paper. The technique is very similar to watercolor but tends to keep more vibrant hews and dries permanently to the paper.
